Do you need planning permission for a flat roof window?
Installing rooflights or skylights in your home usually doesn't require planning permission, provided you adhere to certain limits and conditions.
Firstly, any installed windows must not protrude more than 150 millimetres above the existing roof plane.
Secondly, no alteration should be higher than the highest part of the roof or extend above the roof ridge.
Lastly, for privacy reasons, side-facing windows must feature obscure glazing and should not be openable unless they are situated at least 1.7m above the floor level.
