The Unilin FR/MG Tissue Faced Flat Roof Insulation Board is a high-performance PIR (Polyisocyanurate) insulation board designed for use beneath fully adhered adhesive bonded single ply roofing membranes, Liquid Applied Flat Roof Coatings and partially bonded built-up felt roofing systems. Featuring durable mineral coated glass fibre facings, FR/MG provides excellent thermal performance, dimensional stability and compatibility with a wide range of modern flat roofing systems.

Suitable for use on timber, metal and concrete roof decks, Unilin FR/MG insulation boards help reduce heat loss and improve the energy efficiency of flat roof constructions whilst maintaining a slim roof build-up.

Each board measures 1200mm x 1200mm and is supplied in manufacturer pack quantities only. Available in a wide range of thicknesses from 25mm to 160mm, FR/MG offers a versatile insulation solution for both new build and refurbishment roofing projects.

The mineral coated glass facers provide an ideal surface for adhesively bonded roofing membranes and are suitable for use with most fully adhered single ply systems and partially bonded built-up felt applications.

Alongside the FR/MG range, we also stock Unilin FR/ALU foil faced insulation boards for mechanically fixed single ply roofing systems, as well as Unilin FR/BGM dual-purpose insulation boards. The FR/BGM features two different facings, making it suitable for use with both traditional bituminous roofing felts and fully adhered single ply membrane systems, offering greater flexibility across a wide range of flat roofing applications.

Installation Guidance.

Timber & Metal Decks

Boards should be laid over a suitable vapour control layer in a break-bonded pattern. The long edges should be positioned at right angles to the deck corrugations, ensuring all board joints are fully supported.

Concrete Decks

Boards should be installed onto clean, dry concrete decks laid to the correct falls. The insulation may be mechanically fixed using approved fixings and washers or adhered using approved adhesive systems.

Fully Adhered Roofing Systems

FR/MG boards are suitable for use with most fully adhered single ply membranes. Board joints and abutments may require taping depending on the roofing system specification. Always consult the membrane manufacturer for compatibility and installation guidance.

Partially Bonded Built-Up Felt Systems

Suitable for use beneath partially bonded built-up roofing felt systems installed in accordance with BS 8217:2005.
