Plug-In Solar Kit Delivery Information

UKSOL Plug-In Solar Kits contain large, heavy and delicate solar panels that require specialist handling during transport. For this reason, deliveries are made using an appropriate two-person delivery service to help ensure your order reaches you safely and securely.

Delivery Lead Time

The current typical delivery lead time is approximately 2–3 weeks from order processing.

This is an estimated delivery period and may occasionally vary due to circumstances outside our reasonable control. Where we become aware of a significant delay, we will endeavour to keep you informed.

Most Plug-In Solar Kits are dispatched directly from the manufacturer to your chosen delivery address and are currently available for Mainland UK delivery only. Delivery arrangements may vary depending on your location and accessibility.

Delivery Notifications & Tracking

Once your order has been dispatched, delivery information will be provided using the contact details supplied with your order.

Where supported by the appointed carrier, this may include tracking information and/or notification of the expected delivery date or delivery window.

Please ensure that a correct mobile telephone number and email address are supplied when placing your order. These details may be used by the manufacturer or appointed delivery carrier to provide important information relating to your delivery.

Delivery arrangements and the level of live tracking available may vary depending on the product, delivery destination and carrier. We therefore cannot guarantee that live tracking or a specific delivery time will be available for every order.

Accepting Your Delivery

Due to the size, weight and value of these products, the customer, or another responsible adult, must be present at the delivery address to accept the order.

The delivery should not be left unattended, in a safe place or with a neighbour unless this has been expressly agreed in advance with the appointed delivery provider.

When your order arrives, please:

Inspect the external packaging carefully for signs of damage.
Photograph any visible damage before opening or moving the goods.
Inform the delivery team of any visible damage and ask for this to be recorded on the delivery documentation.
Contact us as soon as reasonably possible if you discover that any part of your order has arrived damaged.
Where possible, retain all packaging until you have fully inspected the contents of your order.

Reporting visible damage at the time of delivery helps us investigate any claim with the carrier or manufacturer. This does not affect your statutory rights if damage or a fault is discovered later.

Please do not install or use a product that appears to have been damaged in transit. Contact us first so that we can advise you on the appropriate next steps.

Delivery Access

It is the customer's responsibility to provide reasonable and safe access for the delivery vehicle and delivery team.

Please advise us before delivery of any known access restrictions that could affect delivery, including:

Narrow roads or lanes
Width, height or weight restrictions
Low bridges
Restricted or controlled access
Gates or private roads
Difficult or unsuitable delivery locations

If a delivery cannot be completed because nobody is available to accept the goods, or because of access restrictions that we were not made aware of beforehand, reasonable failed-delivery and/or redelivery charges may apply where permitted.

Where additional charges are applicable, we will advise you before arranging a further delivery.

Important – Do Not Book Installation Until Your Order Has Arrived

We strongly recommend that you do not arrange installers or schedule installation work until your complete order has been delivered and checked.

Delivery dates and lead times are estimates unless we have expressly agreed a specific guaranteed delivery date with you.

Cancellations & Returns

We want our returns procedure to be as straightforward as possible. However, due to the size and specialist nature of Plug-In Solar Kits, please contact us before arranging any return so that we can provide the appropriate return instructions.

Please do not return Plug-In Solar Kits or solar panels to our depot unless we have specifically instructed you to do so.

These products are generally dispatched directly from the manufacturer and an authorised return may therefore need to be made to a different location.

Consumer Online Orders – Change of Mind

If you are purchasing as a consumer through our website, you will normally have the legal right to cancel your order without giving a reason.

For goods purchased online, you normally have 14 days from the day after you receive the goods to notify us that you wish to cancel. Where an order consists of multiple goods delivered separately, the cancellation period will normally run from receipt of the final item.

After notifying us of your cancellation, you normally have a further 14 days to return the goods.

These rights are subject to the applicable consumer legislation and any relevant statutory exceptions.

Returning a Cancelled Order

If you exercise your right to cancel, please contact us before arranging the return. We will provide you with the appropriate return address and instructions.

Unless the goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied, or we have agreed otherwise, you will normally be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods.

Please be aware that Plug-In Solar Kits contain large, heavy and fragile items which may require specialist or two-person transport. The cost of returning these products may therefore be considerably higher than returning a standard parcel.

Where applicable, details of the likely return arrangements and costs should be considered before placing your order.

You are responsible for taking reasonable care of the goods while they are in your possession.

You may inspect the goods as you reasonably would if purchasing them in a shop. However, we may be entitled to make an appropriate deduction from the refund if the value of the goods has been reduced as a result of handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.

Where possible, we therefore recommend keeping all original packaging until you are satisfied with your purchase.

Refunds Following Cancellation

Where a valid consumer cancellation right has been exercised, refunds will be processed in accordance with your statutory rights.

This will normally include the price paid for the goods and the cost of our standard delivery service, where applicable. If you selected a more expensive delivery option than our standard service, the additional delivery cost does not normally have to be refunded.

We may withhold the refund until the goods have been returned to us or the appropriate return location, or until you provide satisfactory evidence that they have been sent back, whichever occurs first.

Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Goods

If your order arrives damaged, is faulty, not as described or you receive the incorrect product, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

We may ask you to provide photographs of the product, packaging, labels and any visible damage so that we can investigate the issue quickly.

Where damage is visible at the point of delivery, please ask the delivery team to record this on the delivery documentation wherever reasonably possible.

Nothing within this delivery or returns information is intended to exclude, restrict or affect your statutory consumer rights.

Specially Manufactured or Customised Products

Different cancellation rights may apply where a product has been made to your specifications or clearly personalised.

Where a product falls within this category, we will make this clear before the order is placed where applicable.

The fact that a product is not normally held in our stock, is ordered from a supplier specifically following your order, or is dispatched directly by the manufacturer does not by itself mean that your statutory cancellation rights are excluded.

Business & Trade Customers

The statutory consumer cancellation rights described above apply to purchases made by consumers and do not necessarily apply to purchases made wholly or mainly for business, trade or professional purposes.

What is Plug-In Solar?

Plug-in solar is a simple, small-scale solar system that generates electricity for use in your home. The solar panel produces electricity which is converted by a microinverter into AC power suitable for household use. The system connects to a suitable electrical socket, allowing the generated solar energy to help reduce the amount of electricity your home draws from the grid. Any generation not used at that moment may flow to the grid.

When can I legally use a Plug-In Solar Kit?

New rules permitting qualifying plug-in solar systems in Great Britain came into effect on 27 August 2026. Systems must meet the relevant requirements and be installed and used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Are UKSOL Plug-In Solar Kits Compliant?

UKSOL Plug-In Solar Pro kits have compliant listings within the Plug-in Solar category of the ENA Connect Direct Type Test Register. Compliance applies to the complete listed system, so always check the specific model or kit reference before installation.

What is Included in a UKSOL Plug-In Solar Kit?

Each kit includes the required UKSOL solar panel(s), ENA-compliant microinverter, connection cables (4m AC cable and 2m DC cables) and purpose-designed mounting system. Exact contents vary by model, so always check the individual product specification before installation.

How Long Are the Cables Supplied with the Kit?

The Compact Kit includes a 4m AC cable, while the Duo Kit includes a 4m AC cable and 2m DC connection cables.

Suitability and installation

Is Plug-In Solar Suitable for Every Home?

No. You will need a suitable unshaded outdoor location, secure mounting position and an appropriate outdoor electrical socket. Always follow the manufacturer's installation and positioning requirements, and consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about your property's electrical installation.

Can I Use a UKSOL Kit at a Flat or on a Balcony?

UKSOL ground-mount kits are not designed for balcony installation. They should only be installed in locations approved within the manufacturer's instructions, with the correct mounting and securing requirements followed.

Do I need planning permission?

Requirements depend on the property, location and mounting method. Restrictions may apply to flats, listed buildings, conservation areas, balconies, walls and visible installations. Check with your local planning authority and obtain any landlord or freeholder consent before installation.

Do I need an electrician?

A compliant plug-in kit is designed for customer installation in accordance with its instructions. The socket itself must be suitable, correctly protected and professionally installed. Do not modify the household wiring. If there is any doubt about the socket, consumer unit, protective devices or condition of the electrical installation, use a qualified electrician.

Can I Use an Extension Lead, Adaptor or Multiway Socket?

No. The kit should be connected directly to a suitable electrical socket as specified in the UKSOL instructions. Do not use extension leads, adaptors, multiway sockets, smart plugs or other intermediate devices.

Can I install more than one kit?

Do not connect multiple plug-in solar kits or combine systems unless the current rules and the instructions for the exact listed product expressly permit it. UKSOL’s launch solution should be treated as one compliant system per household.

How Heavy Are the Solar Panels?

A solar panel typically weighs around 25kg and can be large and awkward to handle. We recommend two capable adults for safe lifting and positioning, following the manufacturer's handling instructions. Avoid handling or installing panels during high winds.

Electrical and grid questions

What Does the 800VA Limit Mean?

The microinverter limits the system's AC output to a maximum of 800VA. The solar panels may have a higher combined capacity to help maximise generation in varying UK conditions, but the system's AC output will remain limited to 800VA.

Do I Need to Notify My Electricity Network Operator?

Follow the registration or notification process stated in the current rules and the instructions supplied with your kit.

You should follow the current registration or notification requirements for plug-in solar systems. Your Distribution Network Operator (DNO) may require details of your system, so keep the model, serial number and ENA compliance information supplied with your kit.

Will the System Export Electricity?

The solar electricity generated is used within your home first. If the system generates more electricity than your home is using at that time, the surplus may flow back to the grid. Payment for exported electricity is not automatic and will depend on your electricity supplier, meter and export tariff arrangements.

Will Plug-In Solar Work During a Power Cut?

No. For safety, the microinverter will automatically shut down if the mains electricity supply fails. A standard plug-in solar kit does not provide backup electricity during a power cut.

Do I Need a Special Electricity Meter?

No special display is required for the system to generate electricity. However, a smart meter can help monitor electricity imported from and exported to the grid. Check with your electricity supplier regarding meter compatibility and any available export tariffs.

Performance and Monitoring

How Much Could I Save with Plug-In Solar?

Savings will vary depending on system size, location, panel position, shading, weather, electricity prices and how much solar energy you use. Using more of your electricity during daylight hours can help maximise the potential savings from your system.

Will the Solar Panels Produce 800W All Day?

No. Solar output varies throughout the day depending on sunlight, season, weather, panel position, shading and other conditions. The 800VA inverter rating is the system's maximum AC output, not a guaranteed level of continuous generation.

How Do I Monitor Solar Generation?

Compatible UKSOL kits include app-based monitoring through the smart microinverter, allowing you to view your system's performance and solar generation. Simply follow the app and connection instructions supplied with your kit.

Can I Add a Battery?

Only use a battery or energy storage system that is specifically approved for use with your UKSOL kit. Adding unapproved batteries or third-party components could affect the system's safety, compliance and warranty.

Safety and Care

Why Is a Compliant Plug-In Solar Kit Safe?

A compliant plug-in solar kit is designed and assessed to meet the relevant product, electrical and grid-connection requirements. Safe operation also depends on correct installation, secure mounting, suitable ballast and following the manufacturer's instructions. Always use the components supplied or specifically approved for your system.

What Happens in Bad Weather?

The system is designed for outdoor use when correctly mounted and secured in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Do not install or move panels during high winds, and always inspect the system after severe weather. Stop using the system if any mounting or components appear damaged or have moved. Follow any wind, snow and exposure limits for the kit.

Can I Walk on the Solar Panels?

No. Never stand, sit or walk on a solar panel. This can damage the glass or internal solar cells, reduce performance and potentially create a safety risk.

How Should I Clean the Solar Panels?

Keep panels clean using the methods recommended by the manufacturer. Do not use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals or pressure washers, and avoid cleaning panels when they are hot. Always prioritise safe access and use a competent professional where necessary.

What Should I Do If the Panel, Cable, Plug or Inverter Is Damaged?

Stop using the system immediately and follow the manufacturer's safe shutdown instructions. Do not attempt to open or repair electrical components yourself. If there is smoke, fire or an immediate electrical danger, move away and call 999.
